Expected Cut-Off for CPO Tier 1 Exam 2023
Compared to the previous year, more people applied for the SSC CPO exam in 2023. Also, the level of paper for this exam was easier than the SSC CGL exam. Hence, you can expect a higher cut-off for this exam than the latter.
First, we will look at the male and female cut-offs of the previous three years. Then, we will discuss the expected cut-off of the CPO Tier 1 exam 2023. So, let’s begin!
If we compare the total number of vacancies of males and females for 2023, the number is lesser. In the SSC CPO exam 2023, a total of 1689 male and 266 female aspirants appeared.
What it means is the expected cut-off for the Tier 1 exam will be higher than the previous years.
On average, the number of candidates who have passed the Tier 1 exam over the last 3 years is 16 times the total vacancy. But, out of these passed candidates, a great number of aspirants (both males and females) didn’t appear for the physical test.
Since there are 1689 vacancies for males in 2023, we can expect that around 27000 male candidates (16 times the male vacancy) would pass the Tier 1 exam. Similarly, around 2700 females (16 times the total male vacancy of 166) would pass the exam.
2023 Expected Cutoff (Normalized)
If you are sure that you can score over 130 marks in the SSC CPO Tier-1 exam, then you should start preparing for the physical test and the Tier-2 exam.
Basis of Deciding the Cut-Off for the CPO Tier-1 Exam
There are plenty of factors that decide the SSC CPO or any other exam’s cut-off marks. These factors are:
- Total number of vacancies.
- Level of difficulty for the exam.
- The number of aspirants appeared for the exam.
- Normalization of exam scores on the basis of exam difficulty of various shifts.
In 2023, a total of 3.35 lakh aspirants appeared for the CPO exam (as per RTI). Like every year, 87% of them are males and around 13% of them are females.
Around an increment of 4-5 marks is expected due to normalization in the exam result. It is lesser than the SSC CGL tier-1 normalization value which stood at 8.
